I recently read that Sir Paul McCartney, one of the most accomplished musicians in history, has released a new album at the age of 83. It’s a powerful reminder that talent, creativity, and purpose don’t have an expiration date. That got me thinking about today’s workforce. Americans age 55 and older now make up nearly one-quarter of the U.S. workforce, and almost one in five people age 65+ are still working or seeking employment.
At RPS Imaging, we recognize that experience is one of our greatest assets. Rather than viewing retirement as a hard stop, we’ve found ways to help valued team members transition at a pace that works for them while continuing to share their expertise.
People stay in the workforce longer for many reasons, including better health, longer life expectancy, and financial considerations. In our experience, however, purpose and job satisfaction are often at the top of the list. Their years of knowledge and real-world experience help strengthen our team and provide invaluable mentorship to the next generation of professionals. The transfer of that expertise is something that simply cannot be replaced by a textbook or training program.
One thing is certain: when talented and experienced individuals continue contributing, everyone benefits.
