College of Imaging Administrators
“Network” “Support” “Educate” are the three pillars by which the College of Imaging Administrators have been successful. Formed in the spring of 1998, the College of Imaging Administrators (CIA) is a professional, non-profit organization designed to provide practical administrative, business, marketing and technical information and support as well as education to managers, directors, administrators, and other individuals engaged in the practice of radiology and diagnostic imaging management. RPS Imaging has been a proud sponsor of this organization and supported their efforts for the past decade.
For this year’s event, we sponsored David Georges – President, Koning Health to speak to the group on their cone-beam CT technology for breast imaging. He discussed how 3D Technologies are poised to change how doctors diagnose breast cancers. “These images will be very different from 2D mammograms. They are truly 3D images from any orientation. You can scroll through slices up and down, left and right, and get a unique view of the breast like never before and evaluate its structures. It’s almost like seeing the anatomy itself. In addition, the procedure is more comfortable than regular mammography because the breast isn’t compressed.”
We also want to acknowledge that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Approximately 1 in 8 women will get breast cancer in their lifetime. The disease is 98% curable if detected in Stage 1, and we strongly promote screening for early detection. Special thanks to Koning Health and the CIA for allowing us the opportunity to showcase this fantastic technology.
